I forgot to write this back in July on my other blogs, but since we have the page up and running here, why not address this question now.
As some of you may know on July 1, 2008, California and several other states, laws prohibiting speaking on a cell phone without a hands free device went into effect. People were everywhere rushing to get their new bluetooth earpieces before the deadline. I even had a guy at work try to sell me one that I am sure “fell off the truck.” On July 1, the dreaded question was asked of me, “Where is your Bluetooth?” My response is written below:
I DON’T HAVE ONE
My response was that I do not have one. I was then asked why? Simple, what do I need one for? I do not NEED to speak on the phone while driving. Furthermore, when the government makes a law, that is the only time to ask questions. It seems like they make it seem like everyone should have one. So for me, I do not want one of these, need one of these and certainly will not purchase an earpiece.
DON’T NEED IT
Nobody needs to have a Bluetooth earpiece with their cell phone, it just compounds problems. For example, what if a girl I am dating wants me to call her? The excuse that I was driving and could not talk to her saves me from hours of mindless chit chat. What if I want to avoid people who annoy me, but do not want to be rude? This excuse works for them as well. If I have a Bluetooth I cannot use any of these excuses on people I want to avoid. These days we need to preserve our ability to avoid people and prevent tracking. “Where are you?” “What are you doing?” are questions that I hate answering and do not want to answer. If I want you to know where I am, I will tell you. I lived quite a while before cell phones were the norm and I functioned just fine. Today we are too available, I think we need to start a movement to become less available, Buy a pager, “Don’t call me, I’ll call you,” should be our motto. Sorry, but unless you own a sports team, or your initials are C.E.O. you do not need a Bluetooth phone. Then again, I am C.E.O. of Mr. Controversy Enterprises, Incorporated, better get a secretary instead.
WHAT IS THE REAL REASON THIS LAW WAS PASSED
My thought on this is that the government has made it mandatory to implant devices that would track our movements and send them to a database from the satellites, into the cell phones and earpieces. Think about it, let’s say you had a cell phone that was not Bluetooth compatible. Then, for some reason you needed a new phone, but all the available phones were Bluetooth compatible phones. Now these phones have devices in them that communicate with the earpiece. What if these phones had more than just this one new addition? What if instead this phone had an RFID chip that tracked your every move and broadcasted it through satellite to a database? If you have seen Minority Report, then you know that this technology is not too far fetched. Do you really think, this cannot be done? I suggest you watch the documentary America, From Freedom to Fascism. I am not saying that this is happening, but does it sound that off the wall to you?
THE PART THAT BUGS ME THE MOST
Is the fact that we accept these laws and almost get excited over it. Why do we do this? Ever hear somebody say, “So, are you ready for the new law?”. They act like your going to a party or something. What they should really be asking is, “So, are you ready to give up a little bit more of your freedom?”. Because that is what is really going on. The freedom to do what you want, when you want. Let the law of the jungle separate the morons, from the smart people I say.
What do you say?
